One fun thing about the comments was that there were several people I had forgotten had blogs or didn't know had a blog. It was fun to catch up with most of them.
I have a question.
Not an ego-affirming question this time :)
I am planning to start a high school girls bible study this summer and do not yet have material.
Does anyone have recommendations? It will, of course, be geared towards teen girls. I have a few in mind, but nothing that I felt the Lord has confirmed.
Do you know of any good material? Have you done a study in the past that sticks out in your mind? I'm not afraid to go 'old school'! Even if you've just heard of something, pass it along and I will check it out. Give me your best bs'n material!
Lemme Know Peeps.
Thankya.

Haha! I don't know if Jeremy is gonna like that Tommy Lee comment. I'm glad you're my friend, too! :)
I remember two I did with Phi Lamb prayer groups that were great...Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge and Do You Think I'm Beautiful by Angela Thomas. I think there are journals/workbooks to go with both...Hope these help! I have really enjoyed reading your blog!
Hey Ash!-Sorry I missed out on being a part of Blog Flakes- but you already know I'm an avid reader of yours. I too have been caught between business and a rainy funk. I have several posts that are half way finished. I can't seem to finish anything before starting something new (not just here in bloggy land!) So, I've been in and out lately, mostly reading. I have no advice to give on your question, but if my brain kicks in and I think of something, I'll come back. Peace out-
One of your faithful peeps!
Can I just say that the groups that I've enjoyed the most with my girls are the ones that were spontaneous... but I think that's because I'm a bit unorganized! I just really enjoyed the freedom to meet people where they were at each week. This way we were able to stop and pray or celebrate together or encourage. I really loved also sending home random names with each person each week (this way if a new person came they weren't excluded by a set list of names, etc) and bringing them back with notes of encouragement and scripture and prayers the week after that. I also loved giving out little gifts, b/c I'm a dork. It was different everytime depending on the group and the girls and God. We've done everything from studying scriptures in Greek/Hebrew to Beth Moore. All I'm saying is that I know you could come up with something geared just toward your specific group if you couldn't find a particular bible study you wanted.
My 2 cents worth: structure your time together so you can have creativity and freedom to move as the Spirit leads you!
Miss you guys! Let me know what's been going on in your world when you get the chance!!
LOVE YOU!!!
Can I also just say that if each girl gets a turn to talk each week (that helps you connect with the shy ones)... obviously they aren't forced to if they don't want to... two hours just doesn't even seem like enough time!
I meant to tell you that I talked to the girls in my small group and they are so excited about your Bible study this summer. We have been doing a really good study called Sharing God Without Fear. The girls have really enjoyed it and I think that they really strugle with this issue and being brave with their faith. I agree with Emily that some of the best talks we have had have been spontaneous ones and I just tie scripture into it. Captivating would be a good one too.
My Utmost for His Highest, A journal and a question page! This is fun for a summer group. We just read the devotion for the day and then journal our thoughts, convictions and action steps. Then have a question page in that journal for things that come up. at group let each girl discuss her favorite devo and why then work through some questions. If there are no questions from the group, write 3 of your own and help them think through the texts in the devo. Hope your summer is blessed and the fruit of your labor advances the Kingdom.
