~I have not blogged because I just have not been up to it. This is a very busy time of year. I had actually decided I would take a break until after the first of the year but then, well...I don't know. I still might. I guess I will leave you on your toes.
~We have all of our Christmas decor out, but our stockings have not arrived yet. I have my snowflake card holder hanging on the wall. Every time I walk by it, I wonder who we will receive our first Christmas card from this year.
~I am still unsure of what I want for Christmas this year. I am thinking a new slow cooker and possibly a new ceiling fan for our room, but those are so boring. I guess this is what happens as you get older, hugh?
~Noah has broken five ornaments, Kayt has broken one. You would think that I would have learned by now.
~I bought really pretty initial ornaments this year. I decided to hang them on a big mirror in our living room. As I was hanging them, I remembered that our initials (Brad, Ashley, Noah, Kayt) spell BANK. When Brad saw what I had done, he stared at it with the most perplexed look. He said, "BANK? I....don't get it." It is kind of funny to see everyone's reaction upon seeing the word BANK spelled out in silver initials.
~Last night I had coffee with Megan and Sarah. The barista at Starbucks turned the lights off while we were still deep in conversation. I guess they did not realize that I only see my friend twice a year.
~Speaking of coffee shops, I was at another coffee shop today and noticed that they will be opening at 3am on Friday for the early morning shoppers. On Thanksgiving, I will be so thankful that I don't work there.
~I had a really bad headache today so I proceeded to take allergy/sinus medication. It was non-drowsy, but it made so sleepy. I had to put Kayt in her crib to play and let Noah watch Barney, because I could feel myself falling asleep while standing. I don't think I was out long, but I woke up to Noah grabbing my face between his two little hands, telling me "Baw-ney is OOOBBBEEERRR! Mom, I've been telling you dat."
~I have never done the day-after-Thanksgiving-shopping thing before. I am not much of a shopper. For those of you who have, I am genuinely curious if snagging the early morning deals are worth it? I would love to know if it would be worth my sleep for me to fight the early morning (probably crabby) shoppers this year. If you are convincing enough, I just might consider it. Maybe. I seem to fall into the category of people who have a great idea the night before that does not seem all that great when the alarm clock goes off. Can I get an amen?!?

Amen!!!!!
I didn't realize I only see my friend twice a year either. I had lots of fun talking with you and Sarah. Wish we had more time....
Don't shop the day after Thanksgiving!!!!! I've never thought it was worth it...unless you are looking for a big screen TV. Go the day after Christmas with ME! We can find lime green balls for our tree ;)
That is so crazy that we both have taken a break. I don't think my break is over, either. It has been so nice! Really.
I never was an early morning black Friday shopper, but the last few years I've gone. I don't think the sales are that much worth the trouble. I just go for the fun of it! I like to see and listen to the other people getting frustrated. Haha! Is that bad?!
I had a TERRIBLE sinus headache yesterday too. And my ears are killing me. I guess from all the congestion. Hope you feel better today!
Good to hear from you! We should totally meet up one day! :)
I feel like I have a lot of comments after that post.
1. I like going shopping on Black Friday. I get most of my shopping done that day. Are the sales anything earth shattering, probably not, but I just love the hustle and bustle. The really early sales are pretty good though!!!
2. The story about BANK cracked me up! I bet it looks cute though.
3. You have got to think of at least one fun thing you want for Christmas. I have NO ideas, so let me know what you come up with!
4. I get to see you oh so soon!
Ok, I think that is all!
I went shopping on Black Friday- once. My grandma used to collect Santa figures and Dillards was having a big sale. I agreed to go and help her get a couple. Ended up nearly getting several karate chops to the face from a group of fiesty, elderly (we're talking late 70s)women who kept asking me 'Are you going to buy that?' It was insane. Now I stay away from the mall at all costs...
I have a couple of comments as well.
1. I used to go shopping on black Friday with my mom & aunt back when we went to Dallas every Thanksgiving. It was only worth it because my mom just paid for everything & I didn't have to. It was not worth getting up at 4 am to go shopping. I much prefer cyber Monday-sitting in the comfort of my home in my pajamas.
2. Love that all of your initials spell BANK. You should keep a running tally of how many people ask why you have BANK spelled across your mirror.
3. It's sad that as we get older, we tend to ask for only practical things, nothing generally considered "fun" anymore. All I am asking for is Lowes gift cards so I can get a new range for our house. Sad, I know.
4. Where did you get your cute new layout??? I love it & would much rather find one somewhere vs. attempting to make it myself.
5. Have a great Thanksgiving!!
Hey there-
I vote a big "NO" for day after Thanksgiving shopping. I don't have a lot to base that on as I've never been, but it just sounds like way too much work and headache to save a few bucks? However, I know a few people who just love the excitement of it all and do it every single year. I know it's not for me.
Love the "BANK" story. And what a great idea to take a little break from the blogging world - or from something right now. Life is always so busy this time of year.
Oh- we were in Amarillo yesterday & drove by "your" church and I thought of you. Can we move home and find good jobs, build a pretty home and go to church there? Please, please?
Happy Thanksgiving!
As a former Black Friday employee, I would say NOOOOO!!! to shopping on Black Friday. Unless you get a kick out of large, often rude crowds. Also, you truly have to get up super, crazy early to snag the best deals. If you aren't camping out for them now, you won't get them! (No, seriously, drive by a Best Buy today and I guarantee you've got someone on a lawn chair or tent!)
Happy Thanksgiving to BANK!
I laughed when I read that you were considering a break from blogging. I had that exact thought yesterday when I looked at my un-updated page. It keeps nagging at me and I'm thinking of just taking a hiatus until '09.
I like the bank. If you add your last initial to it, you get banki, which is blanket at my house. :) We'd be kmla. Sort of like hoopla.
Sorry I never called you this week. I don't have excuses. Just sorry! I do want to soon.
Enjoy your holiday weekend! xoxo
Amen!!! :) I have fought the fight before and it was crazy and funny all at the same time!!! Some of those shoppers are SERIOUS!!!
Love the story about BANK!!!
I feel like that often...falling asleep while I stand. Motherhood. :)
Love reading about you and your family!!!!
Mas and I went shopping last year on Black Friday because we had never been and knew that it might be our last chance for a few years because we surely wouldn't be taking a baby into all the craziness. I absolutely did not think the deals were worth getting up that early or fighting the crowds. But it is amusing to see how rediculous people are about those deals! We had fun laughing at everyone else together--but once was enough for us.
Hey I've been so intrigued by the Twilight series by hearing you and Angie talk about them...I gave in last night and bought the first one. Can't wait to start reading it. I will say that I made Angie hold my book when I ran into a former student...... :)
Hey girl, long time no see/read. I've been on a break too. My little lovies have been sick. My husband (god love him) has been working 90 hours a week this month, and I've been busy with the holidays and such. Congrats to you and your family on your husbands' ordination. I love your blogs winter/Christmas look. Well, hope you are enjoying a wonderful, restful holiday. Visit with ya soon. God Bless!
