I have done a lot of reading over the past month and a half. I enjoy reading, but I go in spurts. I tend to get engrossed in a book and therefore I only want to read during my free time (and my not-so-free time).
Something about pregnancy makes me feel the need to read more. I've done it all three times. I think that I subconsciously know that my reading time will be soon become non-existent and therefore, I cram my reading into my months before the baby arrives.
All four leisure books that I have read are good;
The Time Travelers Wife
and I saw the movie. It was okay, not my favorite.

Rebecca
a classic. Very good.

The Alchemist
an easy read that has a lot of wisdom.

And my personal favorite:
The Glass Castle
Read it! It shifted my outlook.

What are your favorite reads lately?
And my favorite cd of the fall is Needtobreathe, The Outsiders. It's so good. I can listen to the entire cd and I love all of the songs. That is rare for me. Check it out... even if you don't know who they are.

Didn't you love The Glass Castle? So so good! One of my favorites of all times. I read the Time Traveler's Wife on vacation in August and I liked it too. Although I can understand why people might not like the movie- it's probably pretty confusing. (Still haven't seen it.)
I'm making a list of books to read in December after school is over- I'll add the other two to my list! :)
Love you!
Thanks for the suggestions I'll check them out. I know we don't really know each other, but it is like I see you everywhere. I noticed today that you are friends with my husbands cousin, Emily Jones, who recently moved to Amarillo. What a small world.
Right now I am reading The Blind Side by Michael Lewis. I am trying to finish it before the movie comes out in November. It's a good story:)
Those sound good! I am curious about them...probably should finish my other books that I have not finished yet but I love finding new interesting reads.
Yes, thank you for the book suggestions. I was wanting some new books to try...before our new baby, too! I'm not always brave enough (or I guess I should just say too cheap) to pick out a book without having recommendations from friends :)
Ashley, I know you don't know me, but I stumbled across your blog accidentally. (I was a Phi Lamb at TTU also, but ahead of you). I enjoy reading - your family is adorable!
I just had to get in on this and say that everyone should read The Kite Runner" and "Seven Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini. It's a personal, up close look at life in Afghanistan. Brilliant.
Also, my guilty pleasures are books by James Patterson. Not life-changing, but page-turners, nonetheless.
I'll look forward to more recommendations here - I read a LOT!
Thank you for the good reads. I am interested in all of those books. I don't have any good ones to recommend as of late. I am doing a devotional book called 'Lies Women Believe' by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. I like it so far... :)
What a small world! You look so familar so there is a good possibily we have seen of met each other before. Give Em a hug for me. They are so great.
Enjoy the end of your pregnancy!
I LOVE Rebecca. I recently read American Wife by Curtis Stepenfeld (sp?). It was so so SO good!
I just started Time Travelers Wife...thanks for the new suggestions. Im always looking for good reads! I also go in spurts though, with reading. Im better in the summer when my DVR isn't full of new shows to be watched :)
