I am a big fan of ironing. Not necessarily the actual ironing, but the results it produces. I even have this silly motto about ironing. I'm cheesy.
Years of ironing and I've been doing it ALL wrong. I was ironing in the opposite order of what is suggested.
This conversation came up again recently with my brother-in-laws. I enlightened them on my newly acquired wealth of knowledge. No doubt, they appreciated my two cents. Gotta love a yappy sister-in-law. :)

Here it is, the suggested order...
Collar
Shoulders
Cuff
Sleeve
Other Cuff
Other Sleeve
Front
Back
...or at least this is the order that I was taught.
Do you iron in this order? Is there a better way?
Maybe the real question is do you even iron? There's no shame in the wrinkled game.

And there's no shame in the wear it immediately after drying game!
That's the order?? I had no idea. I seriously iron in almost the exact opposite order. Except I do one sleeve at a time (including the shoulder). Huh. I guess I'll have to try the "correct" way next time I iron.
I hate ironing! Mas does all of ours! He used to iron my scrubs every night for me because he does such a better job than I do. But my mom just informed him a few months ago that there was an order you were SUPPOSED to iron in. He also had no idea and he was all out of order, but he does a great job regardless.
Oh man, I iron EVERYTHING!!!! But I always start with the sleeves....

This would be great to know if I ironed. I know I should, but it was my job growing up around the house, and now I hate it! I tend to dry it, pull it out real quick and wear it.
But thanks for the advice for the next time that the wrinkles are just too bad to ignore!
I hate ironing... I have no patience for it... but so admire people who do!
My mom is one of those people who likes to iron. I respect her!
I just finished ironing for two hours! I'm really bad at ironing as I wash, so then I end up with a huge pile to iron. I did actually know the order-my mom is super anal and taught me those things. (I also know the correct way to fold fitted sheets) Kudos to my momma for teaching me homemaking skills!
My mom taught me to iron in this order:
Collar
Yoke
Sleeves
Right front
Back
Left front
My mother also used to make me iron sheets and napkins. No wonder I hate ironing now. Thank goodness my mother-in-law taught my husband to iron his own shirts. I think the last time I turned mine on was to iron patches on my daughter's Brownie vest.
I don't understand 'ironing piles'. My mom always has one and spends hours ironing. I iron as I go or do it the night before if I know the clothes need it. But, sadly, most of our ironing gets done at the dry cleaners. It is just one of those things that I would rather pay for. And, by the way, when I do iron, it is usually in the opposite order of the suggested way. Funny.
I think Aaron would rather you iron his shirts ;)
I HATE to iron. Plus, I'm terrible at it. Jim is pretty good though. He was a prep in highschool and would even iron his boxers. (He doesn't do that anymore.) I don't iron unless an item of clothing needs it. My sister irons EVERYTHING as it comes out of the dryer. Like she has ironing days. Do you do that?
My mom taught me this exact order!!!! Why is she ALWAYS right....I thought she made it up!! haha! If we would have ironed more in college I would have taught you ;)
I would rather scrub toilets all day :) I am really terrible at it and end up wasting a ton of time. I am a fan of the wrinkle releaser and the occasional trip (splurge!) to the dry cleaner.
Megan,
When I was trying to think of who told me this info, I was thinking, it's probably megped. She always knows stuff like this long before I do. If it was you, thanks!
