This white thing that looks like a shaggy, fifteen year old Maltese is Meme.
If you know Kayt, you know Meme.
It is never far from her side.
She needs Meme. We ALL need Meme.
After leaving the gym on Monday, I realized that Kayt didn't have Meme so I pulled the car up to the door to run inside and grab it. I walked into the nursery, but didn't see Meme.
I looked all over.
No Meme.
The nursery workers and I began a focused search. I found a used gym towel on the floor that resembled Meme. That made me think... maybe someone mistook it for a sweaty, white towel and threw it in the used towel bin. Nope. My heart began to pound and I felt a lump in my throat because Meme was nowhere in sight.
The nursery worker must have understand the urgency of finding Meme when I looked at her hopelessly and said We. Have. To. Find. Meme. It is like air to Kayt.
Now, you know something is important to a child when every person they are ever around calls it by name. At church, the first thing they ask is did you bring Meme? At MDO they say, is Meme in the bag? Grandparents and friends always keep a close eye on Meme.
But on Monday, we lost Meme.
I was heartbroken at the thought of loosing my daughters favorite thing in the whole, wide world.
While the helpful worker had every child in the nursery in search of a little, white, fuzzy blanket, I silently asked Jesus to help me find Meme.
Jesus knows Meme and He told me to search through the trash can.
The worker felt certain that it didn't get thrown away, but I had to look.
As I rummaged through snotty Klenex' and scribbly artwork, I saw no sign of Meme. I was just about to give up when I pulled the last colored page out of the way and there it was.
Meme!
I think I may have cried a little.
I always knew that I needed Meme to console my daughter, but until Monday, I never knew that I loved Meme as much as Kayt loves it.
All is well now.
Kayt never knew of the drama, Meme has had a nice, hot bath and they are reunited and as happy as ever.
**Having an extra is a great idea and we do have others, but Kayt only takes this ONE. She is so funny. She will smell the blanket and then throw it on the floor if it is not the real Meme. She knows the smell of this ratty blanket. I'm afraid that if we loose it, we are s.o.l. :) **

Foster is never without his night night either...I have had to
drive to Ashley to get one before we could start the day more then once(When she has left it in the car)Foster has 3 of the same blanket because they get nasty...they loves their blankets...and really I think it's sweet...them hugging on them...Sweet Babies...love ya girl Robin
you know... it's probably a blessing that Joey does not have a "lovee"... well except for me that is. He has always rubbed his own hair rather than an item.
but it has always made me a wee bit sad. I WANT him to have a lovee... I had a lovee (otherwise known as my booey) and he just never took to anything like it.
I do confess to having bought yet another one yesterday one babysteals.com ... in hopes... ha! ... but I don't think it will work.
I'm so glad you found Meme!
That was a close one! Can you buy another one to put away? My Kate has just become attached to her "lovey" in the past month. I have three, and one is safely tucked away in the closet -- I have been down this road before...........
I felt Meme and she was a little crusty. I liked her better when she was soft ;)
Poor Kayt. That could have been a very tramatic event, but thankfully you realized the problem and went to the rescue! What a Mom! I hope Brad is home and you get some great family time the rest of the week.
I especially love that Meme has that one corner that has turned black. We know how you feel.... ;)
I am so glad you found Meme! This is a good lesson for me for when I have kids someday! I will try to make sure to have two the same and make sure to switch them out so they both get smelly. Maybe that will work? IDK? Love you!
I'm glad she has her Meme back and I'm glad you listened to Jesus tell you where Meme was hiding! Sometimes when I'm all flustered searching desperately for something I realize it could go a lot easier if I'd just stop and ask for some help from above :-)
Somehow I managed to have 4 kids that aren't attached to any certain thing...no blankets or stuffed animals they would die without. Guess I'm lucky times 4, lol. Kayt is so adorable btw!
Awww, Meme is cute! Saylor has a blanket that she has to sleep with, but that is about it. Instead she is more attached to a binky (which I HATE) that Im trying to get rid of slowly but surely. I would much rather her have a sweet little cuddly blanket....I think :) You never know till you're in that position!
Glad you found Meme!
You know we lost Ella's "froggy" at Target right before she turned 3. Froggy belonged to my sweet baby cousin who passed away before she turned 2 and was given to me for Ella before she was even born. I cried when we lost him. I went back to Target every single day for like a month to see if someone had found and turned him in. It still breaks my heart and Ella still asks about froggy every once in a while. :(
That is really sad, Lez.
I don't like stories without happy endings.
