The Run-Down

Before you give me un-due credit or start calling me crazy, this is how ironing goes in my house.

I take Mr. Ingram's dress shirts to the cleaners.
My request from him: wear it two (or three) times if you can before throwing it in the floor. Throwing things in the floor means I get to choose the place I think they belong. I usually choose hanging it back up. Sometimes, it makes it to it's great reward, the cleaners.
Before you call my husband the smelly kid, let me expand.
1. He changes clothes often. It must be hereditary, Noah does the same thing.
2. If he wears a shirt to church on Sunday and takes it off afterwards, is it really dirty? Not unless he spilled grape juice or slobbered Matzah bread on it or the dirty high schoolers throw a paint ball at him.
3. He doesn't even have body odor issues. ~ I know that you are chomping at the bit to know this~ If anyone in our family has b.o. issues, it's yours truly. I require deodorant or I smell like I just left the gym an hour after a shower. ~and that is because you know you are nosey and like knowing embarrassing stuff about people~

I take a few of my items to the cleaners. I wear them a few times in between trips unless it has snot on the shoulder, which is common.

Brad does his own ironing. He's a champion ironer. I am typically asleep when he leaves the house. Sleeping is my hobby. It's one thing that I am really good at.

When I do iron, it's usually the night before (Saturday's for church) or five minutes before. I don't have an ironing day. I tried that once. It didn't turn out so good... for anyone.

My biggest problem is that I leave clothes in the dryer way too long. Then, I re-dry them. Then, I leave them in the dryer way too long, again. Then, I re-dry them. Then, well... you get the picture.

I just wanted to clarify from the previous post. I did NOT mean to sound like I have it all together.
If there is one thing I do not have, it is IT all together.

haha.. I am so like you. I am notorious for leaving clothes in the dryer, then redoing them.

I do the SAME thing too!!! But, worse, I not only have to re-fluff like 3 times, but they end up sitting in the laundry basket un-folded for a week!!!!! AHHHH! Then, I just re-wash because I don't want to iron!!! And, then I am motivated to fold, and then they sit in the basket nicely folded and not put away for a week, but by then, the basket is empty, and it is time to do it all over again. Maybe I should look at laundry as a way to honor God and my family! Thank goodness Nathan wears scrubs everyday! No ironing necessary for the most part. Love ya!

i get so frustrated with myself about re-drying! such a waste of electricity and it can't be good on our clothes. unfortunately, cason is a re-dryer too (he'll redry about 10 times before finally giving in and folding them!).

now to the truth of the matter - i have not ironed one single thing since jr. high and that was only because i was "learning" how to iron. i take every single thing that has to be ironed to the dry cleaners, BUT Cason irons his own stuff.

i think i spend $80 - $100 at the cleaners each month. at least.

that will end one day soon.

There was a day where I didn't have to push the "wrinkle release" button on my drier 5 times a day...I just simply can't get to the clothes in time for them to be wrinkle free. Jody also does an amazing job ironing, therefore, he is the one that almost always irons in our house. He's really fast too! Maybe I should have Jody read this blog just so he knows I'm not the only one that does the same thing.

Iron Shmiron....that's what I say. Who cares? Wrinkled people go to Heaven, too. If they didn't the Roberson family would be in deep shimzy. I gave up trying to iron everyone's clothes a LONG time ago. The only, and I repeat, ONLY time you will find me ironing, is if Keith has to preach for the main service the next morning. That is the honest truth. And forget re-drying, my problem is re-washing. If they make it to the dryer once, it's a good day!

I will call you back soon when my head isn't throbbing from a fever. My whole family except Keith is sick...blech.
